We have some very exciting news! The new music we recorded in Harrisonburg, Va back in March will finally be released this September. Our friend and veteran mix engineer Tom Carr will be completing the mixes and masters so that we can get the music to you. Tom, owner of a Grammy award, has worked with many big-name acts over the years, including Neil Young, The Cars, Dave Matthews Band, and others; we feel very fortunate to have such a highly-regarded engineer working on our album. While the release date and album name is still TBA, more details will be coming very shortly.
In other news, we also have two exciting shows coming in September. On Thurs. Sept 12, Shaka’s in Virginia Beach, VA will be hosting a showcase featuring The Deems (funk/jam/reggae) and yours truly as headliners. Tickets will be available soon- buy them from us and save money at the door! Secondly, we have been selected to play at Spaghettifest 11, an annual hippie music festival in the beautiful Shenendoah Valley in Broadway, VA. Tickets are on sale now, and once again you can save money by purchasing through us.
Special thanks to our fans and friends for their undying support this summer. We will continue to bring the jams to the mid-Atlantic through 2013!
We’ve had a great time this past June meeting and playing for all sorts of hippies, bikers, watermen, mothas, islanders, barflies and tons of other great American folk. We’ve had a great time in Virginia Beach, Chincoteague, and the Outer Banks. But we’re just getting started: this month we keep the never-ending summer party going in Ocean City, Cape Charles, Virginia Beach, and Onancock, VA for a couple festivals! Just check our calendar for show updates, times, and locations.
And in case you forgot, we are still working on our brand new set of songs for an upcoming album…listen back here in a couple weeks and keep an eye out for CDs at our shows!
Till next time, Cheers and happy summering! -Phil, Fat Tuesday
Hey guys, we know it’s been a little while since the website has brought you any news; so I decided to write a personal post to bring everyone up-to-date on what’s happening in the Fat Tuesday Universe. Two weeks ago, we took over Studio 149, the beautiful recording studio on JMU’s campus in Harrisonburg, VA. For four days we worked on polishing and recording new music, and needless to say we’re ecstatic about these new tunes! We finished 7 new songs, and we want to bring them to you ASAP. The mixing and mastering process is now in the works, and we will be releasing the songs as they are finished- gotta get these tasty jamzz to your earbuds! A release date for the new EP (that will be available at our live shows as well as online) is coming soon- expect a late spring/early summer release.
What else can I tell ya? Austin and I are graduating from college in May (YAY!) and while we’ve been hitting the books hard, we’ve also been hitting the bookings hard. Our summer calendar is coming together nicely, and there are some special surprises for the folks on the Eastern Shore. We will have a full calendar listing in early April, but if you just can’t wait, you can see a current lineup of our shows on our Calendar.
I hope to see all of you real soon, and keep checking for new updates. This page will be getting a lot of use in the coming months, so get ready! Take care all,
Woooo…where did Christmas go?…wait…it’s 2013 already? WTF?! The holidays were such a blur, but we had a fantastic time. And we hope you guys did too! Thanks for everyone’s support, we have some great friends and fans, and we’re blessed to be supported by y’all.
We are now booking for the upcoming months, including Spring and Summer, while we continue to write and refine new songs that we will most certainly be bringing live to you guys in the future. In the meantime, check out a free stream/download of our Holiday Mix 2012, featuring 7 studio and live track. You can find that here: Holiday Mix 2012. Enjoy! and see ya soon:)
We are getting pumped for our performance at this weekend’s community Thanksgiving potluck & party at the lovely Shine and Rise Farm in Painter, VA. Dubbed “Friendsgiving,” this yearly gathering attracts all kinds of people from Hampton Roads and Accomack and Northampton counties. Started by our close friends Jay and Tatum, Friendsgiving 2012 is going to be bigger than ever, including a potluck feast at 4:30, tours of the farm, plenty of bonfires games and shenanigans, and music by local artists including Fat Tuesday, who will be headlining at 9:00pm. Bring your tents, blankets, instruments, hula hoops, and anything you need for this all-night party.
Shine and Rise farm is an organic farm that incorporates permaculture and love. We’d love to see you there, enjoy our tasty funky spacey jams and hang out with some great people. There is no charge for the event, but Shine and Rise accepts donations of all kinds (even glass bottles, tarps, or other items). Please leave only your footprints when you depart! See you there.
